Mobile Blog?

Posted on January 12, 2009. Filed under: Blogging, Mobile Blogging, moblog, Sidekick, WordPress, |

I recently purchased a T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 as my new cell phone. The sidekick(SK) works quite well to use twitter, check my gmail and use Google Reader.

One drawback to the SK is that there is no flash support, so no Youtube videos,, or any other site with flash.

With the full keyboard and Camera on the SK, I wanted to do a 100 percent mobile blog via my SK. So with the lack of flash and other limitations of the SK, the regular version of was unusable.

I used Google to search for a hosted blogging platform that doesn’t use flash, or was a true mobile blogging (moblog) platform. After 2 or 3 hours of searching, I remembered about and I am using it now.

So we will see how this works out. The only problem I can see with this is that strips out html code. So this post will also double as a test post.

The thing that gets me is with all the smart phones out there and the move towards a more mobile web, there are very few platforms for a 100% mobile blog. Maybe Matt and the WordPress crew can make some additions to the mobile side of

If any of you out there have any other suggestions post them here.

Well, I am thinking of buying the same phone. And I was just wondering about that. I want a phone that lets me blog wherever I am… How is working for you?

Well Crazy, works real well for blogging, on the sidekick 2008. I really have been using twitter more than my WP blog.
Couple of additional drawbacks on the sidekick, are the non-ability to add free third party apps like on other phones, I’m a tech guy and like my apps, and you can’t make your own ringtones and put them on the phone, you can only buy them from T-Mobile. The sidekick is pretty much locked up, when it comes to customizing the phone other than theme.

Hope it helps.
